County workshop in Kingston to gather input on rural land use, salmon recovery

KINGSTON — Kitsap County will hold a public workshop Thursday, Oct. 29, on how the county plans for its rural lands and how that planning ties into local salmon recovery efforts.

The workshop runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Village Green Community Center in Kingston. Space is limited to 60 people, and registration is required through the county’s Community Development page or at cognitoforms.com/KitsapCounty1/KitsapCountyRuralLandsAnalysisOctoberWorkshopRegistration.

The Rural Lands Analysis is reviewing land-use patterns, policies and regulations in unincorporated Kitsap County to guide future rural planning decisions. A related Salmon Recovery in Local Planning project is identifying where salmon recovery strategies overlap with land-use policy.

The county has convened an Agriculture Advisory Council, a forestry working group, a salmon recovery team and a technical-policy advisory committee to advise on the work.
