BREMERTON — Olympic College film professor Marq Evans will bring his new documentary, “Capturing Bigfoot,” to the Roxy Theatre for a one-night screening at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Evans, producer Tamir Ardon and Clint Patterson, the son of Roger Patterson, who shot the famous 1967 Bigfoot film, will take questions after the 102-minute documentary, according to the theater.
The film revisits the 59 seconds of footage Roger Patterson shot Oct. 20, 1967, of a creature nicknamed “Patty” walking through the woods of Northern California, footage that has been analyzed and debated ever since. The story turns on a reel of 16mm film found in a safe five decades later, which brings together people who were there.
The documentary includes archival footage that has not been shown before and interviews with Bob Heironimus, Bob Gimlin, Jeff Meldrum, Greg Long and Bill Munns, along with Clint Patterson and his mother, Patricia Patterson. Olympic College said neither had given interviews on the subject before.
“That footage is one of the most recognizable images in the world, but the people behind it have privately carried its weight for almost sixty years,” Evans said. “This film is their story; about family, loyalty, and the truths they’ve held onto or finally let go of.”
Evans and Ardon previously made the documentary “Claydream.” Evans teaches in Olympic College’s filmmaking program, which offers associate and bachelor’s degrees.
The Bremerton screening follows a tour stop with a Q&A at the Majestic Theater in Yakima on Oct. 24, according to the film’s website.
Tickets are available at roxybremerton.org. The Roxy Theatre is at 270 Fourth St. in Bremerton. More about the film is at capturingbigfoot.com.
