Poulsbo man hurt in five-vehicle crash on SR 307; pickup driver suspected of DUI

POULSBO — A Poulsbo man was taken to the hospital Friday evening, Oct. 30, after a pickup crossed the center line of State Route 307 and struck four other vehicles near Sugarplum Drive Northeast, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash happened about 6:25 p.m. on the highway, also known as Bond Road. WSP listed driving under the influence and speed too fast for conditions as the causes.

According to a WSP press memo, a southbound 2000 Ford F-150 pickup crossed the center line and hit two northbound vehicles, a 2001 Kia Sportage and a 1995 Honda Odyssey. The pickup continued, crossed back into the southbound lane and struck a 2024 Honda HR-V that had been traveling ahead of it, then crossed into the northbound lane again and hit a 2006 Acura.

All five vehicles came to rest fully blocking the roadway, the patrol said.

The Acura’s driver, Godwin E. Selembo, 56, of Poulsbo, was taken to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale. The extent of his injuries was not released.

The other three drivers who were struck — Ian N. Wynn, 32, of Silverdale; Carter J. Dunn, 18, of Bremerton; and Hannah M. Ashby, 28, of Lynnwood — were not hurt, according to the memo. Selembo and the other three drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The pickup’s driver, Jason Mendoza Gomez, 23, of Bremerton, was not injured. The memo lists him as a suspect, with DUI and hit-and-run charges noted. Any formal charges would be up to the Kitsap County Prosecutor’s Office.

The pickup, the Acura and the HR-V were totaled, and the Kia and the Odyssey had reportable damage, the patrol said. Trooper Jason N. Rimando was the primary investigating trooper.
